In acute cases you will usually get an appointment on the same working day. Emergencies are treated with priority, simply call us and we will find a solution. Our phone is answered Monday to Friday from 8.00 to 12.00 and from 13.00 to 17.15.

Outside our opening hours, the medical emergency call centre on 061 261 15 15 will help you, the official emergency dental service of both Basel cantons. You will be connected to an SSO dentist in the Basel region (BS/BL) via the medical emergency call centre (MNZ).

What to do until your appointment

Knocked-out tooth

Touch the tooth only by the crown and do not clean it. Ideally store it in a tooth rescue box, otherwise keep it moist in cold UHT milk or your own saliva, and come to us immediately, every minute counts.

Broken-off tooth fragment

Keep the fragment and store it moist. It can often be bonded back on.

Severe toothache

Cool the cheek from the outside and keep your head elevated. Do not apply heat and do not take aspirin (blood-thinning), ibuprofen or paracetamol are better suited.

Swelling or abscess

Cool from the outside and contact us promptly. With fever, difficulty swallowing or breathing, please go directly to an emergency department.

Bleeding after a procedure

Bite on a rolled-up gauze pad or a clean cloth handkerchief for 20 to 30 minutes. If the bleeding does not stop, call us.

Dental trauma in children and sport

Dental accidents often happen during sport, on the scooter or at school. The same applies to children and teenagers as to adults: the faster you act, the better the chances of saving the tooth. Keep a knocked-out tooth or fragment moist and contact us immediately, even if the accident looks harmless at first. Injuries to milk teeth can affect the permanent tooth growing behind them.

For accidents, accident insurance is responsible rather than health insurance. We help you with the registration.
